Location: Lichterfelde is a district of the municipality of Niederer Fläming in the south of Teltow-Fläming district in the state of Brandenburg. Lichterfelde is a typical Brandenburg linear village and consists of a main village street, along which almost all houses in the village are located. These are predominantly four-sided farmyards, or their remains, as outbuildings have been demolished over time and no closed courtyard structure exists anymore. The village is characterized by the village pond, the church, and the "Oberlaubenstall". The village of Lichterfelde was founded during the medieval German eastern settlement by Flemish settlers. This is reflected in the village name, which can be traced back to West Flemish "Lichtervelde" (similar to Lichtervelde in Flanders). In the first documented mention of the place in 1279, Lichterfelde was handed over to the Zinna monastery by Günther von Schwalenberg. The monastery sold the place as early as 1463 to the Jüterbog district office and Lichterfelde subsequently became an administrative village.
